UNICO SLABS is an outcome of years of experience, an undeterred passion for ceramic technology and expertise of business developed over the years by its founder Upen.

Born and bought up in Morbi, the ceramic capital of India, he grew up with clay technology history being made in the country. Since a young age, he had passion for ceramics and passion and it was a matter of time before he would gain leadership status in the industry as a dependable businessman.

CLAY AND UPEN: 25 Years and Counting

Having learnt the lessons of ceramics and clay dynamics from traditional technologists as well as professional engineers, he has gained knowledge in new product and production methods introduced over the years. From small draft down furnaces to long kilns, he has seen the industry evolving into a giant force within India and then the world.

He has been and advisor to many enterprises in Morbi region in terms of machinery and equipment selection, import and commissioning. His relation with clay is highlighted by the fact that large manufacturing units appoint his company UNICO as exclusive preferred export partner.

In his 25 year relation with clay, he has worked in Sanitary ware, wall tiles, floor tiles, vitrified tiles and Slabs.

BUSINESS AND UPEN: 15 Years and Learning

Guujarat, the erstwhile state in India has been recognized in the world by the business acumen of its people. Deeply engraved in the DNA of Gujaratis is their knack for establishing and operating businesses.

For Upen, it was a matter of time when the technologist would discover his interest in business seeing many around him pursuing entrepreneurship. With little capital but undying zest and technological experience, he started off with small trading fund to buy quality ceramic ware and sell it to quality markets.

Slowly but steadily, he forged quality partnerships based on his deep relations with entrepreneurs in the region. He demanded exclusivity and got it. He reached out to markets in India and abroad with a promise of total quality in products and support. As time passed he learnt tricks of the trade and most of all how to keep the customers delighted an asking for more.

Upen, Traversing the World

The world was his playground. Since 2017, he started travelling the world, studying tastes, preferences and styles prevalent in markets across the globe. He met buyers, sellers and importers in many countries to understand their challenges. His discussions led him to gain knowledge of markets that would enhance his ability to serve each market with a customized solution.

Today, he has established buyers in Europe, North America, South America, Middle East, Australia and Africa. He is expanding in all of these markets using information technology methods and delivering products consistently.
